I take it you didn't have any of the above?
If you can; fax the papers while you are at the shippers, then check with the broker. Get any problems resolved beforehand.
And......never..ever..ever let them add a "just a couple more things here" unless you KNOW they are on the papers.

As a former warehouse manager of a large corperation that ships and receives international shipments, let me give a little piece of advice on your paperwork.
Unless your company pre-clears your shipment to cross the border, you as the driver are the first to catch if something will cross or not. You should check for a few things:
Product being shipped.
Quantity of product being shipped.
Total Price of each product.
Total Price of All individual items.
The Harmonize code of each item.
Annex Code of each item.
Country of origin of each item.
This should be on a performa invoice given by the company. If this isn't given to you, and you know you will be crossing the borders, ask for it. Beware!!! don't insist on these documents though. If, when you ask for it, you are told that the companys broker handle this aspect, then procede with load.
Also, If for some reason you have a trailer that has loads going to multiple stops, and only one is across the border, don't cross until you only have that load to be delivered on other side. You will be required to show proof that the rest won't be unloaded in foreign country.
Hope this help. If not....Sorry
