MONEY!

We sure can't do without it, right?

Before going to work for a trucking company, be sure you open a checking account at a bank if you don't already have one.

When in Orientation, your company will usually ask for a voided check for the purpose of setting up "Direct Deposit".

Once on the road, try to avoid cash advances if at all possible. Often, they are forgotten about by payday, and you may be mistakingly blaming the company you work for for not paying you correctly.

If you need money, and have it in your checking account, you can avoid costly ATM transaction fees by going to a grocery store, buying something you need, & paying for it with your bank debit card while selecting "cash back". If you only hit the Wal-Mart or other grocery store once a week while on the road, be sure to get enough cash to last that week, & spend it sparingly.

If you do end up having to use ATM machines, the transaction fees are tax-deductible.

My personal policy when it comes to cash advances is to only get them for reimburseable expenses such as tolls, scale fees, etc.

I rarely carry much cash on me, instead I elect to use a Visa Check debit card for most of my purchases.

If you do this just be sure to keep track so you do not overdraw.
