Ironeagle, I wouldn't wanna pay the fine for getting caught with a radar detector in a CMV.
I got nailed with a scanner in my truck last fall. The fine was $300. :yikes: :yikes:
Yes Ladymac, that's the info I was after. Thanks.
BTW, y'all are unsociable! Ya didn't even wave when I passed ya yesterday on Hwy 60 between Merrill & Le Mars IA. :wtf:
I even cranked up the ol hillbilly cell phone and hollered at ya.

Believe it or not, I've had DOT cops search my truck a total of 3 times in the last 5 years. Twice in MN and once in TX. My scanner wasn't even turned on when he (MN DOT cop) found it.
Texas and a couple other states use radar detector 'detectors' in their HP vehicles and their scalehouse motor homes that they set up around the state.
automatic cloaking a radar dector dector can't find anything cloaked

Matters not if the detector makes a noise or not.
The detector generates a frequency to recieve a freq. This generated freq is picked up by the cops detector ( can't think of the proper term)
If you hear a sound or see a light on your detector it is just for you to see that you are in a radar zone. Your warning.
Has nothing to do with if it can be detected by outsiders.
Some of the new very expensive radar detectors have filters, but still emit a trace of freq .
I have a scanner and it is always on the weather setting when I shut it off.
. I also have a Ham lic and I have had my say with cops that think they can take my scanner. So far I still have it. It is in plain sight in the cubby hole for the CB .
If they get swell chested about it . I demand a supervisor officer ( Lt or above) on scene and it usually becomes a "thats not nessesary driver" situation and I am on my way.
I sure miss that badge from my state representive.
Working on one from Ks. They simply do not mess with you when you have a badge from a legislator.
When I was not so mature I thought I needed a radar detector but soon learned that driving safeley was my best weapon against speeding tickets.
driving safeley was my best weapon against speeding tickets.
Truer words have never been spoken!
I've never understood the 'need for speed'. But then again, I'm not a man. Now, I'm not saying that women don't speed. I'm just saying that men tend to need more of a 'thrill' than women do.
LOL, yes, it is a 'man' thing.... my husband explained it to me last night.
Anyway, it's better to slow down to keep from getting a ticket and possibly hurting someone.
i say hammer down and liss on the split speed limits if anything cars should have the lower speed limit and trucks have the higher on
