Found this on another forum I frequent.
*********************************
There is a thing about women that no one seems to admit though it is undoubtedly known by both women and men on atleast a subconscious level. A guy craves stability in a relationship and life in general. Put a man in a predictable rut and he will go on day after day for many years before he tires of it and changes some aspect slightly. A guy will eat at the same table in the same resteraunt and have the same meal for years as long as the menu stays the same.

Women can not live in a predictable rut and be happy. They have to have obstacles to overcome so they feel like they are accomplishing something or atleast making a difference. If a relationship is running smoothly for an extended period of time, a woman will sabotage it in some way so there is a problem to deal with. This trait is actually not only a good thing , it is neccessary. It is this trait that allows women to spend so much time and effort caring for babies and sick kids etc. It is also why women handle being ill better than men. A guy with the flu will lay in bed and moan like he is dying while a woman with the flu will get up and feed the kids, get them off to school, make some soup and head off to work.

So to keep a woman happy in a relationship a man must be aware of when things are going too smoothly for too long. At that point the man must do something that seems insane, but is imperative to preserve the relationship. He must screw up on purpose. Stay out late with the boys and come home drunk or go hunting instead of a day at the in-laws. She gets to straighten you out and you have to be stubborn for a day or two then admit she is right and apologize with flowers or some other token of adoration. Getting hurt works just as well. A nice gaping wound that requires attention and bleeds profusely is like a dream come true to a bored woman. Head wounds are best since they bleed a lot and don't really hurt much at all. Let her find you semi-conscious face down in the dirt behind the mower on a hot day and not only will you be spoiled rotten, you will get to watch the game after all.

If you doubt this theory just think on this... Why is it that a guy is clueless when a girl breaks up with him? He thought everything was going just great and it was. That was the whole problem. ;)

So is that why I am feeling like I want to rearrange the furniture again?

Hey Dave, I can post again! Don't know what was wrong.

Well, Dave, I'm here to say it can be done. It hasn't been a smooth highway, but, we seem to be making it down the road. My wife, and I, will be leaving, in about 45min, to go out and celebrate 22yrs of wedded bliss(and bumps and bruises). Wouldn't trade it for the world!

Well then there is something very wrong in our truck. I've had the same partner for 23 years (I trained her to drive) and we aren't married to each other. Nothing seems to change, she drives nights and I take days. I wouldn't say we were in a "rut" either.

Maybe we have enough change in our personal lives that we don't have to change what is going on in the truck. Do you think? ;)
