Note: My truck and reefer were fueled up before I took off from the yard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last Friday:
Load eggs in Harris IA (334,800 of them! :yikes: ). They took the pallets outta the front of my trailer, so I was loaded heavy in the nose. 1,200 lbs. over in fact. :wtf: Dipstick shipper sent the loaders home before finding out if my weight was ok. :angry: I played the 'dump 50 gallons in the tanks' here and there all the way to Cali. :angry:
Monday:
Deliver in Alhambra CA. Only 1 guy unloading and he's like 60 years old. :wtf: Since he was the only guy there and the shipper loaded 5 skids of eggs on the floor (to fill in between the pallets and the trailer walls), I helped him stack them on pallets. No big deal, in and out in 90 minutes once I got a door. Was there for 4 hours total. He wrote "Driver assist unload" on the B/L and I wrote him out a receipt that he signed also. :cool:
Monday afternoon:
Start reloading in Bakersfield CA. Supposed to get 6 pallets of carrots. Turned out to be 8. :wtf: Took them idiots 5 hours to load 8 skids. Of course lunch time came when they had 7 skids on. Think they'd throw the 8th one on before the shift lunch break? I'll give ya 2 guesses and the first one don't count. :wtf: Left there after loading and went 5 miles down to Lamont CA. At check-in, I asked how long it'd be before I got a door (I was pushing 13 hours by this time). The girl told me "6-7 hours" :wtf: I told her that I was gonna take a nap. She told me to turn my CB to Ch. 3. I says, "My CB don't work". :D She says, "Gimme your cell phone number and I'll call you." I says, "I'll never hear it, come out and knock on the truck." :D :p
Tuesday morning:
13 hours after checking in, I hear a knock on my truck. :wow: :wtf: They loaded 7 pallets quick! I was in and outta the place within 20 minutes once I got in the dock. :cool: Sure doesn't compensate for taking 13 hours to get my azz outta there though. :vmad: I did get a good night sleep though. ;)
Tuesday afternoon:
Got 1 pallet to grab up near Madera CA. After talking to the shipper (a Chinese guy that spoke no decipherable english :wtf: ), I concluded that his name was 'Sum Ting Wong'. :p :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: I finally got to talk to a Mexican girl that spoke limited english with a very heavy spanish accent. My name for her is 'Wrong Way', because she don't know her right from left. Yeah, she got me lost. :wtf: I finally found the place and got that 1 pallet on. My next partial of 3 skids cancelled because it wouldn't be ready until the 3rd (this was Nov. 1st). Spent the night in Bakersfield.
Wednesday morning:
Had breakfast with ATCO at the Crooked Hook, then headed for Payson UT for my last pick-up. 655 miles later (I stopped 1 time to pee and that's it!), I get there 1 hour after they closed for the day. Dispatch and the broker weren't banking on the fact that I'd make it there before they closed because 1/3 of the distance was in CA, so no big deal.
Thursday morning:
Grabbed the 1 pallet, fueled truck and reefer and was down the road within an hour of starting my day. Made Rapid City SD right at 11 hours of road time. :cool:
Friday morning:
Left Rapid City SD and made it to Minneapolis at 3:30 pm. All 19 pallets are going to the same place. :cool: Normally the place closes for receiving at 2 pm, but they wanted the stuff, so they took me when I got there. In and out in an hour. :cool:
That was my week draggin' a reefer. How was yours?
Hmmm, left the house Monday, already loaded for Bakersfield, and delivered. Back to the Bay.
Tuesday, ran 2 loads of Caustic Soda, from Richmond, to Tracy.
Wedensday, loaded Latex to LA for Thursday.
Delivered Thursday, reloaded out of Torrance by 11am, for Paso Robles same day.
Delivered Thursday night, got the trailer back at 2am Friday. (was paid for 7 hours detention time)
Drove 75 miles home, and was here by noon Friday.
Yeah, yeah, yeah................ :p
I know that you don't pull a reefer. You're too spoiled with that tank you drag. :rofl:
Do you know what a trailer door is? :harhar: :rofl: ;)
Hmmm.........no problem. I'll betcha even a Peterbilt or a lipstick clad, chicken lighted Volvo coulda pulled 'em both out at the same time. :harhar: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:
I know a guy that found a Triple Chromium Plated, Fully Hydraulic, Electrically Operated, so simple to use that a former Swift driver can operate it, windshield wiper jack that you can buy cheap. :harhar: :ninja:
Ehh, I doubt it.
The surface was hard packed, but as soon as you broke through it and even spun the tires once, you were done, as the dirt really got powdery and loose. I finally got it squared away and moved, but it was an all day adventure. I think what it really was, was that my truck just didnt want to hook back up to a van, seeing as that it has been over 3 years now...
I dont need a windsheild wiper jack, MY truck runs just fine, and can even pass a fuel stop! :ninja:
Dave do you mainly haul eggs now?
I haven't hauled eggs, but out of NC I hauled apples (on the floor) to Ft Smith, Ar not to long ago.
I was 1200 over on my trailer and since it was conveyor belted in apples. I couldn't tell by my suspension gauge how heavy I was after loaded. Didn't help that I was on a downgrade at that.
Before you b*tch me out. I scaled out at 400lbs over on my trailer. I figured if I hit enough downhills that I would either have applesauce or applejuice. :rofl: :rofl:
Luckily I ran at night and missed all the scales.
It gets better I promise you. Soon enough you can be upgraded to a CFCC like myself (certified frozen chicken carrier.) :rofl: :rofl:
Dave do you mainly haul eggs now?
From what I understand, it's eggs or frozen pork outbound and produce inbound.
What'd I tell ya in your other thread? Oh yah:Hurry up and wait! While loading produce? Hurry up and wait, and then get to your next 10 stops for the next 15 pallets! Be patient, it all takes time.
see.....I wouldn't lie to ya. ;) ;) ;)
Dave,
Welcome to the dark side. Before you know it, the sound of the reefer unit running will become a lullaby.
My search is over, I have been lookin for one of those jacks for I dont know how long now. Are you interested in selling it and if so how much ?
Also, is the chrome still in pretty good condition ?
