I hear on the Dave Nemo show how great the 3000D is and I would like some real world input.
Do any of you have one installed and do you see an significant increase in performance or fuel mileage ?
OR did you think it wasn't worth it.
With the price of fuel any help will be a plus. I had the overhead run 2 months ago and it improved my power a little and I gained a little in fuel mileage. But I now have blowby again.

On another board, there was lots of talk about what a waste of money it is. I think it might be wiser to:
Limit idling as much as possible.
Reduce your speed to 65 mph.
Set the cruise control.
Pay attention to shifting at the right RPM's.
Do regular PM's at the correct interval for your truck.
Plan your routes considering the time of day and the potential for getting tied up in traffic.
Drive at night or the evening / early morning hours. It's easier to avoid traffic and get the cruise set and maintain that set speed.
Tire pressure. Keep it where it's supposed to be.
I think in the end, if you do these things and a few others, you'll do just fine without buying something that may of may not be worth it.

I agree with everything HSLD said above, but the Turbo 3000D commercials..............
Can you say "SNAKE OIL SALESMAN"?
Dave Nemo has a great show, but the stuff he advertises (other than CentraMatics) does no good in the real world except make some people pushing that crap wealthy.
It's sad how so many corporations prey on truckers who are looking for ways to save fuel.
As far as blowby goes, no, a Turbo 3000D won't help cure that either.
Do a search over on that "other" forum, and you will see very few people saying they had any luck with it. The ones that are talking highly about it are simply trying to convince themselves that they made a wise purchase. :wtf:

I have a Turbo 300 on my Century, as do most of my friends.
EVERY one of us noticed an increase in power, right away. Going across Wyoming dropping 1-2 gears LESS than usual. I noticed an increase in fuel mileage on the first trip, but that's also the trip when my engine decided yo come apart. Therefore I could not positively say I experienced a big jump in mileage. All but one of my other friends has noticed anywhere from 1/2 to 1 1/2 mpg increase. The one that didn't, stayed the same, but his power jumped. He has a Cat Bridge motor.
I told Big Dave a year or so ago that I'd pay for the thing and put it on my Pony Pack if it didn't do him any good. Nitestar, since I know you, personally, I'll offer you the same deal. You put one on and if after a couple momths you don't honestly think it helps, I'll buy it from you for the price of the unit. The labor's on you, but I'll pay you back your approx $ 200.
