Picked up my load last Monday night (Tuesday morning) around 2 am. After stopping at the guard shack for my paperwork, I find out that the B/L isn't ready yet. :wtf: So I ask the guard if I can roll across their scale. He says no because their scale isn't certified (but they use it? :wtf: ).

So I run across the street to the truckstop and scale out. Not too bad, only about 1,800 over on the drive axles. :yikes: :wtf: I go back and tell the guard that they need to jockey the load around and take about 2,000 lbs out of the nose. He makes a call and sends me around to the back of the plant to a door.

A few minutes later a guy comes out and asks me how much needs to come off the nose.

2 hours later, I'm finally done. Problem now is, that it's 4:30 am and I have been up for the last 18+ hours (line 4 for 2.5 hours).
*Note: I kept in contact with the packing plant and did not leave home until my trailer was loaded.

I met up with Brad a bit later and we head towards LA.

Wednesday night:
Cruising down the road, I noticed at 'warning light' had come on, on the reefer control panel. :wtf: A little bit of troubleshooting and a couple phone calls later, it's determined that I need to find a Carrier reefer shop, a.s.a.p. The reefer had blown a seal and dumped the refrigerant. :yikes: The shop got me squared away temporarily because they didn't have the correct seal.

Thursday:
Delivered in Santa Fe Springs CA around noon (I was about 6 hours late because of the reefer). There was a Carrier reefer shop in the City of Industry that could and would get my reefer in and fixed as soon as I got there. They did as promised!

Friday:
Reloaded 24 skids of grapes near Delano CA and grabbed 2 skids of carrots out of Bakersfield, then headed towards MN by mid afternoon.

Today:
Due to being very short on hours, I dropped my truck and trailer at the yard and someone else took the load to LaCrosse WI and delivered it for me.

This week I spent very little time in loading docks and no hassles from the produce shippers (compared to last week).

Ya know, dragging a reefer isn't that bad. Yeah, I'm sure there's gonna be times that I'll be so PO'd that I'll wanna slowly choke them to death. :brucelee:

The one thing that I don't like about my trailer is that it doesn't have E-track so I can use straps to secure the freight.

Load locks really suck. I had a pallet of carrots shift on my way home this trip. It didn't tip over, but it dang sure wasn't safe! Yes, I had 3 load locks across the back and I 'cranked' them tight when I put them in. :wtf:

If you ever get a load going to Publix in the south east Dave, REFUSE IT!!!

Waiting and being PO'd will make a NEW meaning for you.

They SUCK!!

I did find out that 2 boards on the pallet broke, on each side of the center stringer, that's why the carrots shifted.

I do use load locks floor to ceiling when I have single pallet in the nose or a single one elsewhere in the trailer.

The company buys the load locks, so I'll let them make the decision on which ones they buy.

Maybe I can sell them the 3 ratchet style load locks I have. :p

I never really like the flip over ratchet style, because I could never get them tight enough to feel comfortable with them. And that was even putting them in on the angle tight and knocking them straight.

But I always had good luck with them ceiling to floor, because the ceilng of a reefer is strionger than a van, and there isn't as much flex in and out between them as there is between the walls. ;)

I tried to use load locks on my trailer but they always fell down as soon as I let go of them

I put load locks on my load I have now. They fell off and I felt obligated to reopen the trailer, restack one pallet (all products in order) and reseal the trailer.

I still need to figure out how to put load locks in when a pallet is 3 feet away from the other pallets. :wow: :wtf: :wtf:
