My Cobra 29 LTD Classic died last night. :wtf:

It can still receive, but it can't transmit. Changing the mic doesn't help.

When I key the mic, the green LED does not change to red, nor does the needle on the meter move. :wtf:

Anyone know what causes this?

I'd like to get it fixed, but don't want to waste money fixing it if it's not worth it.

Does it have that burnt electrical smell to it?
It could be nothing more than a burned transister or even a bad solder joint that vibration finally cracked.
Alot of CB shops are pretty cheap for a "bench test" so i would at least try that then decide if the cost of repairs are nore than a new radio.

Dave,
Check the PA switch.
Make sure it's not partially stuck in PA position.
Might want to work that switch a few times just in case it's dirty.
Other than that, it's a trip to the shop.

Normally I do that. But now it seems that the company I work for rolls several loads at the same time to the same areas.

The other night there were 3 of us running together out of CA. We picked up 2 more that one of the guys knows when we fueled in Rawlins WY and then 'found' 1 more of our drivers in Rapid City SD when we stopped for coffee.

The 'Midwest Produce Haulers Channel' was insane.....er.....busy that night. :wow:

Wrongway; I've checked everything that I can think of. Flipped every switch just to make sure they were all where they were supposed to be.

SCN; Good idea on the 'bench test'.

I'm gonna pull the radio outta the pickup tonight when I get to work and put that in my truck for this week. I'll drop off the other radio at the CB shop on my way west and pick it up on my way back.
