XM appears to be going after the Canadian market, as they have added several channels aimed specifically at Canadians.

Two of the 'World Music' channels have been changed - XM-100 is now French-Canadian rock, and XM-102 is more mainstream adult French music.

XM-153 is a comedy channel that features mainly Canadian comics.

XM-172 is a French talk channel, while XM-244 is an English speaking Canadian news channel that is much like Headline News, and XM-245 is the same in French.

I've been listening to XM-244 for the past couple of hours, and it's interesting! I've learned that the Bush Administration is set to waive the restrictions on the importing of Canadian beef in about six to eight months, which will bring down the price of beef just in time for the summer picnic season. I've learned that children in the Atlantic Provinces are upset at the new 'low-fat' school menu, and more of them are eating their lunch off-campus. Also, there was a duck caught in Vancouver with a variety of the H5 avian flu virus, but not the H5N1 that is causing all the fear.

But, most importantly, Gordie's in Moose Jaw has two-fours of Labatt's on sale, limit five per customer. And if you have a "George Bush is a hoser, eh?" bumper sticker on your snowmobile, they'll give you a free pound of fatback...
