While moving the cursor across a page (direction doesn't matter), sometimes it'll disappear and reappear somewhere else on the screen or it'll highlight a bunch of stuff or the page will start scrolling......it does it all by itself without my clicking any buttons on the mouse.

It drives me nuts! :wacko: :angry:

How do I fix it?

Oh, the puter is a HP Pavilion 533W that's had the hard drive replaced once already and the memory has been doubled (512? :noclue: ) since we got it several years ago.

It could possibly be the mouse. I had that problem once and it stopped after I gave the mouse a good cleaning and made sure there was not any debris in between the buttons.

Also make sure that your mouse is fully plugged in. With animals in the house sometimes they get under the desk and will bump the wires or just the act of using the mouse will jiggle things just loose enough to cause problems. If all seems well there you might try changing the mouse to a different port.

It almost sounds like the mouse driver file might be messed up.
You might make sure the mouse isn't showing a conflict in IRQ's.
Look in system & device manager for the mouse.
See if there's a conflict icon showing.

You might find updated mouse drivers from the manufacturer or
If all else fails, remove & reinstall the mouse drivers.
