I guess fuel prices will always be the most important cost of doing business in the transportation industry. If things are good, you absolutely must have a fuel cost surcharge written into any contract you sign.

THE ARABS WILL NOT GET THE MONEY OUR GUY'S ON WALLSTREET PUT THE MONEY IN THERE WALLET. EVERY TRUCK IN THE USA SHOULD NOT RUN FOR 5 DAYS AS A WARNING AND YOU WILL SEE HOW FAST THE DIESEL PRICE IS GOING DOWN

Harry is on to the right idea.Fuel is just the begining....when our surecharges are passed on EVERYTHING goes up in price..including OUR tires, parts...groceries..everything. I don't know about you guys/gals...but I think this country would definatley miss us if we all parked them for a week.maybe then we can get the fuel price to stabilize and get the rates we deserve???

Your darn right they'd miss us. But the biggest problem we face is the fact that there is no way in hell that everyone would shut down for a week or so.
With all the suckers............er.......people that have $2,500 a month truck payments working for .85 cpm, they can't afford to shut down that long. The first 3000-3500 miles they travel each month goes directly to their finance company. IF there's any left over after ALL trucking related expenses, then their families get food on the table, gas in the car and clothes on their backs.
Most of these people are living from 'paycheck to paycheck'.........never mind the fact that they don't have the money to survive 2-3 weeks without a paycheck.
These companies that offer 'Lease / Purchase' scams are the problem too! If the 'sucker' has a major hiccup (like a motor or transmission going bad), the company will pay to fix it, but the lessee (driver) gets billed (plus interest I'm sure), and just goes deeper in debt and HAS TO keep working.
Like I said, it'll never happen.

The vast majority of people a two pay checks away from shatting in a card board box...You can't get truck drivers to agree on the color of the sky, you'll NEVER get the American Truck driver to park their trucks, you might/should be able to convince them all to call in STUPID
