Aircard Recommendation for Texas

Anyone got any recommendations for an aircard for Texas that'll pretty much work statewide?

I need to know where I can get a aircard that'll work nationwide.

I stopped by the Sprint office in Mankato and their plans suck. :wacko:

Where can I get a Verizon or Cingulair aircard without going to the Minneapolis / St. Paul area?

When I look at the coverage maps of most providers, there's a lot of Texas that doesn't have coverage. Or, they say you can use their WiFi network that's located at hotels, airports, malls etc...... The places I'm not at when I'd need to be able to use the service.

I use Cingular.
They are almost everywhere in Texas.
They cover more then their map shows I have found out.

If you are happy with the coverage of your cell phone provider, go with thier data service (you should also get a discount for having both accounts with them).

I have never used Sprint but have heard a lot of complaints... much more than compliments. Same for T-Mobile. Cingular and Verizon seem to be on top of the wireless data heap.

I had trouble with All Tel (they took over some of the old ATT accounts) when switching my service to Verizon... I'd recommend against them on customer service grounds.

As time goes on, the Verizon coverage has improved a lot. Also, the broadband that Verizon has in place in many major areas has been very impressive.

HSLD, where in Texas do you travel to mostly? I have been just about everywhere in Texas with mine, and yes there's a few areas with no coverage at all (as with any air card out there).

For the most part, my Verizon card works fine on most every Interstate & some major U.S. Highway in Texas (except for points west of San Antonio until you reach El Paso, and no coverage in Amarillo yet). Works great along U.S. 281, 59, and 77 going to & from the Rio Grande Valley.

I run DFW to Houston most weeks. But, then there's times I might head out to Lubbock, San Antonio, Buda, Austin, Victoria, Tyler, Corpus, etc..... Most times, I have a back haul, but when I don't, I get paid deadhead. So, I was thinking of using OOIDA's load board for the times I deadhead on the odd chance I could find a load and make some extra $$$$$.

An aircard may not be necessary or a necessary expense for me. I haven't gone back to look in awhile, but I think you used to be able to access OOIDA's loadboard by phone.

I use Nextel. Which is Sprint now. :angry: I left Sprint after 5 years of crappy service and went to Nextel. Now, thru no fault of my own, I'm back with Sprint. :angry:

I'll stick with Nextel for cell service. All of the shippers and recievers I go to use Nextel, so I can use Nextel's walkie talkie feature to do business. That's makes life so much easier than calling and having to do the push 1 for shipping, 2 for.........................

I'm thinking I'll go with Verizon if I decide to do this.

HSLD, of the areas you listed, about the only one I see that would not be covered is Lubbock. Everywhere else, you're covered with Verizon's air card.
