It's obvious that a lot of us came from different walks of life to get out there and drive a truck.

I have been around trucks for most of my life. I went to College and Trade School, then worked as a Diesel Technician. I eventually became a Shop Foreman. After seeing that I wasn't happy in that field anymore, I decided to put my CDL to use and go to driving a truck instead of busting my knuckles on them!

After 9 years and traveling well over 1 million miles of America's highways, I'm still enjoying it! :)

I worked in a metal casting foundry for 2 years, then worked at a heavy truck shop for a year, now i drive, Couldn't see why anyone would want to get all dirty working on trucks, when for about the same pay,you can drive them.

I was an auditor, loved counting companies monies and the travel but the paperwork ugh :yikes:

Saw my husband working many hours less than I for double the money. just had to become a truck driver (he was a company driver over 10 years). Went to one of those 2 week wonder schools got a job at Commercial Carrier Corp. in Jax. Worked there for 6 weeks training when my husband bought our own truck.

That was in 1999 been doing that ever since and loving it. Sometimes I get worried and wonder about all the risks that we as drivers have to contend with.

Well I was an Electrical Engineer at the Boeing Co., commercial division, before being laid off in '99. Before that I worked in real estate.

Went to truck driving school and found my happiness was in driving a truck.
Currently employeed at Bynum Transport, pulling food grade tanker, but on medical leave of absence so that I can perssue the wonderful title of cancer survivor!

I am currently under going chemotherapy and so at times I disappear. And yes, in case you are wondering, I have lost all my beautiful hair.

this post is not meant to gain a sympathy vote, I'm ok with my life

While I have driven a truck since I was 16 (farm) then started driving full time at 18. I also did it on and off. Had a little time to give to Unkle Sam.

I did the collage thing and thought I was going to be a big time stock broker.

I got hired on with Edward D Jones in St Louis mo.

I busted my but with them for very little money. I even had to wear a tie!

I had to get out of there. To much back stabbing and politics.

Farthest I mad it was to cold calling folks that were on a list that inherited money, won lottos or large settlements. Try to get some fund invested in special funds or stocks that we were being paid to market.

I felt like a leach peddle things I would not put my own money into. So back to truckin and investing on my own.

I'm not a driver, but I do work for Trucker's Connection Magazine.

In order from when I was 15, the list is:

Druther's counter girl, Pizza Hut waitress, Mc'D's drive-thru gal, Cook in a great place off I-24 in Ky (Patti's Settlement; I met my hubby there).

Then I graduated High School and moved to Georgia for:
Texaco attendant (LOL), Burger King assistant manager, Papa John's delivery girl, Pre-school teacher, nanny, and now here I am as a Jack-of-all-trades at Trucker's Connection. Wait, would I be considered a Jill-of-all-trades?

Oh yeah I forgot, for two horrid months I worked for an inventory company, doing inventory on stores like Home Depot, Lowes, clothing department stores, KMart, music stores, grocery stores, ect...
