There is some guy parked next to me trying to change his headlight. I haven't heard that many cuss words in a long time! I think he is having a problem w/ a bad connection, cuz it lights up when he puts the tester on it, but as soon as he takes the tester off, the light shuts off.

Hmmmmm......... :wtf:

Probably nothing more than a worn out connector. If he would take a screwdriver or knife and bend either the connector in the plug or the prong on the headlight he might get it to work.

I went out and chatted w/ him, and apparently his replacement light was just bad.........

All too often a headlight is removed & tossed into the trash when it is NOT the problem.

Corrosion & dirt usually find their way into the connectors & cause it to quit working. Best to clean the connector with contact cleaner, then use some dielectric grease forced into the connector area before plugging in the headlight (making sure the prongs are clean).

Truck-Lite makes an inexpensive lamp tester powered by a 9-v battery. It can let you know if a lamp is bad or just not getting current (corrosion, broken wire, poor ground, etc.)
