I'm looking at a position at a company here that does underground fiber optics and pipelines.

They're a union outfit that employs mostly Operating Engineers and Pipefitters.

Anyone ever been associated with either unions?

I'd like the good, the bad and the ugly on each if ya can.

My Dad was with the Operators for many years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator though, and I do know that they cover alot of people in the plant engineering, steam fitters, and pipeline maintenance fields also.
It will depend on the contract that is written for the comapny and job to know about benefits, health and welfare etc.
