I just can't believe some of these so-called citizens of this country!

Read the transcript of this interview. You ain't gonna believe this nutcase! The United States doesn't need a military???? :wtf:

An excerpt of the interview:
COLMES: But to say that we shouldn't have a military is absolutely absurd. It's incredible. That's a ridiculous fringe point of view.

HANNITY: That's exactly what I was thinking, Alan. Welcome to San Francisco.

SANDOVAL: If you're saying that we don't have a right to defend ourselves that's different from we shouldn't have a military.

COLMES: What do you want to defend ourselves — what do you want to defend ourselves with?

SANDOVAL: Well, you got cops. It's called the Coast Guard. There's lots of things different.

COLMES: You want to send cops to defend our shores if we're attacked? You want to send cops overseas if we're attacked? Cops?

Aside from the idiocy of Mr. Sandoval's false premise, the Coast Guard is part of the military.

:wtf:

You're right..........but......... ;)

Unless things have changed from when I served,....

In peacetime, the Coast Guard is under the control of the US DOT.
In wartime though, the Coast Guard becomes part of the US Navy.

Sandoval is also one of the city guys who doesn't want the USS Iowa docked in San Fransico as a museum exhibit. He says a 10 story tall ship that played one of the defining roles in the Pacific Theater is not worthy of his stuck up town. My Dads younger brother served on the Iowa from 43 to 46, and then served on it during the Korean War.

There was many Coast Gaurd crewmen who died in action in Vietnam while patrolling the rivers. And they never really got recognition for their action.

No kidding????

Well now we know who to call the next time we are overcharged by a lumper.

It would be so nice if we did not need a military. It would be so nice if we never needed to send our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers, etc into harms way.

Until the day comes when every person on Earth and every creature in the universe can resolve their differences without resorting to violence the need for a specially trained armed force will exsist.
