I took my International into cummins got the overhead done adjusted the Jakes and changed some of the engine parameters. I had them remove the speed limiter on cruise and foot, added Jake turn on at 4 MPH over on cruise set, lowered the temp that the fan turned on for overheat. Read the ECM for faults (none) and reprogramed it to the most current Cummins ECM settings.

Now the speedometer and the road speed will not match RPM says I'm going 65 speedo says I'm going 47MPH

They have been into the ECM and all the tire size codes and revolution code are set for the right size of tire and drivetrain they are tearing their hair out. International says that it is their fault and Cummins doesn't have a clue what they might have done wrong. This is now at the main Cummins service home office and all are scratching their heads over it. All throttle parts and sensors have been checked and all speed sensors have been checked out by International and Cummins and all are working correctly no faults showing by either the computer or manual testing.

Short of burning incense and offering virgins :youaremymaster: to the computer gods any suggestions. :noclue: :brightidea: :noclue: :brightidea: :noclue: :brightidea: :noclue: :brightidea: :noclue: :brightidea: :noclue: :brightidea:

Don't know about Internationals, but the Pete I owned had a set of 'switches' on the back of the speedometer head (the actual speedo in the dash).

Have International or Cummins take a peek at that and see if yours has that and if it's set for your transmission, engine, gear ratio and tire size.

AND

The answer is Cummins made a BooBoo in the software update the latest update tells the speed sensor to read at the wrong rate. The tire rotation rate is a changable function the speed sensor is not. The local shop has no way to access the setting to change it, it is a factory setting that depends on the transmission type and the company that builds the truck. That setting is not even listed on the local shop computer to be reviewed. So they rolled back the update 1 series and it now works fine. Cummins said that they would contact me when the update is updated. This latest update is 1 week on the market and is just affecting Cummins's in 01,02, and 03 International's

I was very impressed with the fact that the local shop had one of the technical crew at Cummins's home office call me to explain the problem.

So I'm a happy camper again

Big THUMBS UP to Cummins Northwest and Cummins main office for taking the time to find the problem and then fixing it. And I get a free computer check and update when the problem is solved.

Makes you wonder if Bill Gates isn't writing the programming doesn't it.
