FYI, there is a good and interesting website called officer.com. They have links to most police departments, job offers for various police departments and most interesting is the daily activity log which has major law enforcement activities from the past 24 hours. There is a section also called "Officer Down," which has good info how a situation goes back and an officer is hurt or killed (it gets depressing because you realize that a police officer is killed on duty an average of 1 every other day).

Great site. I look at it when I'm at work sometimes and when I am at home. Lot of good information and advertising for equipment.

Thanks!!

The LEO Down part sucks, but it is a humble reminder of what can happen when you let your guard down. You would be suprised to know that most officers killed are not from a criminal, but rather an accident. It's a shame.

It's pretty good with the info. There is also one called "policeone.com" that I visit often, they both are good, but different in ways. :HMM:

Maybe :whistling: you'll find a link to that next career move ???? :toughcrowd:

To Crystal Pistol. I looked at the other website, policeone. com and it is similar to officer. com. I spent 27 years working as a police officer in California, I took an early retirement and went to work for the County Of Ventura as a child abuse invistigator for a childrens protective services agency. So after spending 32 years working in the public sector, I will retire from my second job in July and start my career as truck driver. I have always enjoyed being on the road and look forward to the solitude that driving on the road can offer you. I am just tired of dealing with parents who abuse their children, parents having drug/alcohol abuse problems or mental health issues.

I think officer.com is a good website for a younger person looking at becoming an officer. I found the job to be very satisfying and at times very dangerous. I was shot at several times, had a beat partner get shot and killed in a shoot out with a mentally person and had four LEO friends commit suicide over the years. This job can take it out of you and anyone wanting to become an LEO should be aware of the dangers that are out there. I personally never felt threatened by the public but had more concern about my job when dealing with management due to my being on the police union board of directors for nine years.

Well, let me Welcome you to TruckStopUSA Wayne.

Both sights are pretty good, and you'll love this one with your new career. There are several out there, but after looking at thjem for awhile, I found this one (well, I was invited over here too). This one is one of the most friendly, and helpful sights related to trucking I think, others may feel otherwise though.

Don't know what I'm gonna do when I pull the plug, but I have to think about it soon, hopefully maybe this will be the last year. I love my job, but most of our stress is internal and it takes the fun out of it after awhile.

Later ..............
