Those of you that travel with a printer, are you leaving it in the truck when you shut down in the summer, or are you taking it with you to keep it from the high temperatures in the cab?

I bought a nice little Canon printer, and the instructions don't mention protecting it fom the heat. I'd hate to melt it down in the truck this summer.

I have a small printer from HP that I carried on the road when I had my Pete. I never had any problems with extreme heat or cold.

I had a small 3 drawer filing cabinet in the closet on the right side. I kept it wrapped up in a piece of bubble wrap to protect it from getting scuffed up. Did the same for the cheap flatbed scanner that I carried also.

Both still work fine.

Thanks Big Dave, I've got a nice Pelican Case the printer fits in; that ought to keep it protected from overall abuse. I just didn't want to fry my printer with heat expousure. Most electronics owners manuals say whether or not heat or cold exposure with cause damage. This printers manual doesn't.

Storing it out of direct sunlight should be enough to protect it from frying itself, but I would be careful using it in temps above 80 degrees or below 30 degrees. The low temp may cause the ink to gel up and cause some problems with your ink jets.

I've had a printer in the truck for 5 years and the only trouble is the ink dries up. It maybe because of the heat or cold, I leave it in the truck all the time. It could be that I use it very little.
