Whats a set of injectors cost of an S60? I'll be putting my truck in the shop soon and it's about new injector time. I'm working on a ball park figure of what all I need and want done is going to cost me.

I got a quote for a six pack of injectors for a srs 60 at 1560.00 this does not include labor which should be in the eight hour range for the job

I paid around $2,500 (parts & labor) for a "six-pack" of injectors, including the labor, overhead, and a dyno run.

The Stewart & Stevenson dealer in Salt Lake City did this work for me 3 years ago.

I just put mine in the Stewart-Stevenson Dallas shop for 6pack. They're running a special this month for $2250.00 out the door. Their regular price is $2600.... Oh- I'm also having it dyno'd to get an idea of where it is. It's got 878,000 on it & has never been opened up & is not using any oil b't changes. However, the fuel economy has dropped below6.5.. Hope the injectors take care of that ;) .

I heard somewhere that the average life of injectors is about 500K. My C-15 Cat had about 750K when during the regular running of the overheads, my tech found a broken spring on #1. I had them replace all the injectors. Because I run the overheads regularly, I did not notice a big difference in power or fuel economy. However, the peace of mind, as the commercial says, is priceless.

If I remember right, it cost me about 2 grand (at our local KW dealer). They have one of the best Cat mechanics in the state. He is the only person to touch any of our engines.

Sidenote: re-man injectors cost my boss two overhauls. Go with the brand new.

HSLD--Right now they're about 2 days behind. Part of the injector package, evidently is a pressure check of the air-air system. They found mine was loosing way to much thrrough the intake manifold gaskets so they are doing that also. Wondered where my fuels been going. Also found a crack in the exhaust manifold so there goes another $400.. But I really prefer having these things caught there & not on the road.
I checked at Cowtown Fr8lnr on the injector price & they wanted $3200. for the same job.

It's best to get that work done while you're at home.

Injector replacement, an overhead, checking the air-to-air intercooler, and re-adjusting the Jake Brakes will add up to being an all-day job.

Add in the shop being backed up, and you're looking at possibly three days downtime.

I'd still wait that long on a Detroit dealer before letting Freightliner do any engine work though.

CC--Amen!!!! They've been on mine since Fri. noon. Said it will be ready Mon. afternoon so I called the office & set my schedule back to. Weds..
As for Freightliner, I'll never even buy parts there anymore   . When I cool down I'll post the fiasco in buying exhaust parts there last week.

. When I cool down I'll post the fiasco in buying exhaust parts there last week.

I have a simpler idea-

(1) REMOVE the ENTIRE exhaust system from the turbo back.

(2) Find an 8" Chrome Stack with a turn-out and 5" base.

(3) Mount a 90-degree elbow to the turbo & aim the outlet end upward.

(4) Cut a slot in the hood above the outlet of the 90-degree elbow & back toward the firewall. This will enable you to continue to open & close the hood after Step #5.

(5) Raise the hood up & mount the "Monster Stack" to the elbow. Close the hood & check 'er out!

(6) Take the truck to a paint shop & have it painted John Deere green with yellow lettering.

(7) Enter the truck show at MATS & get an award for "Most Unusual Truck".

Whatcha think, Bob? :harhar:

:yikes: Never was much for GREEN Machines.. Always prefered RED.. Would be a lot cheaper doing it your way though.

Well, I see what I can work out for next week.

BTW, I wouldn't use FW Fr8lnr. I've always questioned their work (quality of), the price they charge and that they always have your truck down for a long time. I'm not fond of the parts department there either. I had a special order, and when it came in they called me and I went to pick it up that same day, they sold it to another customer!

I've been using AAA truck repair behind KW in FTW. They charge a fair rate and do good work. But, they've been found (it seems) by everyone else and get a lot more work than they used to. Guess the news of a good shop travels fast.

Don't use First Time Truck Repair in Everman. They couldn't do the job right the first time or the second time, no matter what the name of the business says.

Given the posts, I'd planned on taking the truck down for a week, first week in April. Guess I might make it sooner to get S&S's deal this month.

I've tried 1st Time twice, didn't do the job right & the place is a mess.. Finally found D.T. in Denton. They have done well by me so far. Hope they keep up the good work as this is close to me, just off 380 W of 35 about a mile.
As for Fr8liner Ft. Worth--- a week ago Fri. I called them & ordered the parts to replace the exhaust system from the Blower back. Had the truck in the shop at D.T. & they were taking the old off so they could reinstall the new on Sat. AM.. Was told that all the parts would be there by 5pm.. Was there & picked up everything they had, minus the elbows that go up to the mufflers, they didn't have any. OH well, we could get by with the old ones for a couple of weeks.
Was at D.T. 7am Sat. & ALL OF THE PARTS were wrong...Tried to call Fr8lnr & NO ANSWER!!! Tried Dallas...No answer.
I had a delivery to make Mon. AM in Round Rock.. Had to be there. There was a crew of installers waiting for these cabinets..
This is where D.T. made my day-- they took what parts they could scrounge & built me a single stack so I could make my delivery.
On Tues. I took all of the parts back & ask to talk to the head of the Parts Dept.. All they would do is credit my card for the purchase & wouldn't even apologize for the inconvienence  & gave no explaination of why this happened. He checked the notes of the guy who took the order on Fri. & all the numbers were correct but still they pulled all the wrong parts.... I WAS NOT HAPPY!!!!

You know you can get a lot of exhaust pieces at Truck Pro around the corner from FW Freightliner? They won't have the part numbers per say, but you can take your old pieces in and they can match them up. I needed some exhaust pieces for my truck and went through about the same mess with Ft. Worth Freightliner, so I went down the street to Truck Pro. Got what I needed for less $$$ than FWF. And FWF is terrible about telling you your parts will be there by such and such time. It took them 2 months to get a locking fuel cap in for me. I could go on and on over FWF.

Like I was saying AAA in Fort worth is a good shop. But they are swamped with work anymore. Guess that's good for them and bad for me...............

When I still did business with FWF, I'd still check Truck Pro first before going to FWF to see if that might have what I needed.
