I graduated Friday from Roadmaster in Columbus, OH. Good instructors, but too many students in a class I thought. We had 30 in my class and you stood around too long waiting on the skilll pad waiting your turn. I passed my test with flying colors so I guess I learned something.

hey toolman thats great I will be starting class April 1st. it will be the weekend classes so the class size should be alot smaller. there were telling me that you take all the written skills tests upfront. meaning I will take one weekend class which will be Sat. and Sun. then before the next weekend class I will have to go to the DMV and take the General Knowledge, Combination, Air Brakes, and PreTrip test.. before the next class. Sounds like a lot to learn in 2 days. Did they do this to you? did you pass all the test? Are they hard? did they go over everything that would be on the test. I'm stressing about haveing to take every written test with only 2 days of class..

We were in class 2 days before we took the BMV written test which was general knowledge, air brakes and combination vehicles. I passed all three the first time but there were many who didn't. Study the book very thoroughly and have someone quiz you on it. General knowledge is the hardest, air brakes and combos are the easiest. You won't do pre-trip until the day you do skills and road test. Practice your pre-trip eveyday at least once especially the brake tests, if you mess up the brake part you flunk the whole pre-trip. Don't be intimidated by the amount of stuff you have to learn in a short time. Ask lots of questions and if your not happy with something tell somebody, they are working for you in a sense because your paying to go there. Get as many turns possible on the skills and hope you get a good road teacher as I did. Remember safety, safety, safety. NO COASTING!!! :)

Somewhere, posted on another forum many of us USED to frequent, ther were some links to practice tests for your CDL. Maybe U-turn or Big Dave can find those links and post them. :D :D :D
