Does anyone have any online links for companies that sell NEW fuel tanks? I am looking for a 50 gallon tank that has never held fuel, and am coming up empty on searches. I need a 50 gallon holding tank for water for a project I am planning for the truck.

I talked to my kid, the mechanic and he said any trailer shop would be able to help you out. 50 gals is a regular size for a reefer fuel tank.
Good luck

I'll give that a shot. Thanks much!

Almost any ThermoKing or Carrier reefer shop will have that size tank on hand at any given time.
The only problem I can possibly see would be finding mounts to frame mount it on your Pete.
Remember, if you have 1 tank for 'fresh water', you're gonna need another one for dirty water.

From what I have been told by all the custom sleeper manufacturers, you don't need a holding tank for "gray water". Just for septic. None of them put holding tanks on their sleepers for gray water.

Doesn't 'grey water' go into the 'septic' tank?

Actually, on the setup I am looking at, the septic is only for the toilet. All the shower water and sink water drains down below the truck. The septic tank on this setup is very small, and will only hold a small amount of waste.
But from what I was told, "gray water", or water from the shower/sink, is legal to let runoff onto the ground. Most RV parks have rules against it, but that is just because they don't want the runoff making the ground all wet. Essentially, it is just "dirty water"

If you go to a facility that manufactures trailers that use hydraulics (dumps, walking floors) they typically manufacture their own tanks to fit the specific application. They could build you one in no time flat.

You may wanna check into this more in depth. The set ups I've seen on trucks has 2 tanks of equal sizes. 1 for 'clean' water and 1 for waste water.

Go to any place that sells gravel truck boxes and hoists. You'll get a tank with the proper frame mount brackets that they use when installing wet kits.

As opposed to truck stops? So, let me see if I got this, you take a shower and the soapy dirty water just runs all over the parking lot?? NICE, just what I want to drive / walk through. But, on the other hand, it may wash some of the pee off.

The idea of this is to break the tie to the truckstop parking lot.
It's not really any different from washing your car in the driveway. That dirty, soapy water runs down to the street.
And yes, if it happens to wash some of the pee off, then I have done my civic duty, and I won't even send the truck stop a cleaning bill.
The state of New Mexico actually encourages people to let their gray water runoff. They state that it is good for the plants. They do, however, regulate how much of it you can do. They state that you can only runoff a paltry 250 gallons per day. Jeez - that's hardly enough!
I have since decided to add a gray water tank, for 2 reasons:
1. I can use it to combine the black water tank, and the gray water tank, for easier flushing
2. I can use the shower while at a shipper's residence, if the load is more than one day.

Just don't be like the driver that drained his holding tank while in a dock and let it run all over the parking lot.
Oh, BTW, believe it or not, alot of municipalities are not as leniant as NM, some have laws against draining grey water, it depends on the state.

It will only be emptied at RV dumps in rest areas, and in Sparta.

Custom sleepers do NOT come 'stock' with grey water holding tanks, it goes to the ground. We do have an optional grey water tank on our shower so if we choose to take a shower rolling down the road it doesn't spray all over. Since we never use it, the new one will not have that tank. The sink is piped directly to the ground w/out a tank.
Black water (toilet) is the only thing that has to be contained. Most people choose the cassette style which is very easy to dump and you can carry a spare in case you don't get by a Flying J or other dump site.

Now that's worth a special trip to Sparta!...but only to dump the black water tank, since it will only add to what is already on the ground there!

I'd bet you could find an RV tank that would fit between the frame rails and could be hidden under the cat walk between the sleeper and the fifth wheel.
Now if you wanted a tank, I keep seeing some Pete rock trucks running around the Bryan / College station area that are using a tank (for the wet kit I assume) on the side frame rail, passenger side between the fuel tank and the forward set of drives, which looks to be about 50 gallons, and is a total match for the factory Pete fuel tanks, diameter, brackets, cap and all. Looks like it belongs there and isn't some hack job. I'm assuming it's the tank for the wet kit becuase there's no other tank you can see other than the fuel tanks. I haven't got a good look because I see them on the road as them pass me.
Might check with Peterbilt. It'll probably cost you, but it'd look good.
