Got a friend that is looking at them. They seem to be kinda cheap on the outbound stuff, .97 to 1.47 per mile. Then, they get 96% of anything they get off the boards. That part sounds OK.

Any info would be appreciated.

Had a friend that was leased to them 10 years ago. He ran LTL out of the terminal to the west coast and had his own gig through an Uncle hauling LTL seafood back. Funny, the load out paid marginally well, but his load back paid Tall $$$.

I wouldn't try this depending on a load board for the return load, that is all going to be cheap broker freight. It would be better to find his own gig, that is steady, as with Roadrunner, you have to be back for the next outbound, whether you get a load back or not.

Did Dawes Transport & Roadrunner Freight merge recently?

Yes they did, Jeff.

BTW, PTD, the way they do it now is you get 3 loads at 96%, then they drop you all the way to 95%. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: Like that's an incentive to get back to their freight. I guess they figure that 1 % loss will have you running to the terminal. :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

Why not just use the boards 100% of the time, and get the carrier's MC registration, permits, and insurance really cheap? Do they have a say on how much of THEIR freight you have to haul?

If you found a really good run that kept you away from Wisconsin, a measly 1% percentage "penalty" would be worth it.

I'm doing a dedi run that will pay the truck $1.60 a mile to the west coast and $1.70 back with no DH, Terminal to terminal. Why mess with broker freight, unless ya own a reefer and want to haul them xmas trees b4 xmas.... rdfs only takes 4% for 3 broker runs then 1% more per broker run after that, like 4 runs 5%, 5 runs 6% and so on, they want you to run their freight. Granted they have loads paying up to $2.03+FSC per mile, and that means a broker load back out. But I'd rather have consistant freight with consistant pay so I know what I'll bring home each week...
