I pulled flats steps and doubles in the 80's and 90's, I'm thinking of buying a flatbed but am curious of the rates any help?

Hey Chief...I presume you're running under your own #s.
Rates are really hard to define, because so many has their hands in the pie.
Usually direct shipper rates are really good( depending on area).
Once the brokers get their hands on it, then its up for grabs.. :yikes:
Military freight pays better then average...Here are some examples that I can give you from my experience.
From the midwest to the north east usually about 2 bucks and up.
From the north east to FL..about the same..(less in the winter)
From the south, to the midwest..anywhere from a buck to a 1.75..
You get the picture...Rates are all over the place..Some brokers will offer the load without taking much off the top...thats seldom.
Most times you have to ask for a lot more then they are offering..

Preciate it Hellbound :cheers: I do run on my own and I miss flatbed, I like the physical aspect not to mention the lack of bs compared to vans.
