Yeah buddy! Not that we are big time CB geeks, but proper communication among professional truck drivers can be helpful on the road & off. Buying a citizens band radio for your vehicle can not only be a convenience of pre-traffic-jam news source, but also be a life saving tool in an emergency backcountry situation. Dirt back roads often do not have good (if any cell service).

truckers use to communicate with lights and hand gestures before the cb. Anyone know what some of them were.

JSontag, while some of those are universal ALOT are not.
Here in North Carolina it varies from counties as far as 10 codes go. For example a 10-10(fight in progrss) in Guilford County is what means Negative in Davidson County.
I wish there was a universal code, but I can wish in one and an :yikes: in the other. :noclue:

2 fingers held sideways: speed cop ahead
Logbook held up to the windsheild: DOT check ahead
Wave of the hand in the windsheild: Hello ( a disapeering trait any more)

I seem to recall that there is one gesture involving hand and finger coordination when you've done something considered rude to another driver (or anyone in particular).
Hmm...now what was that...?
Hey...I saw that! :yikes:

So then it's OK to return the sign to them so that everyone feels good about themselves, right? :chase:

Hold your hand out palm up ---scale open
palm down --closed
hold hand up with fingers pointing down and wiggleing--- raining or snowing
Flash lights at on comming--- cop ahead or accident.
Let one behind you know it is ok to pass. put on left turn signal .
Don't pass-- blink trailer lights
Hammer down---Hand extended and index finger point up going in circular motion

"I aint got no panties on", gay looking for love.
Shuddup Stupid, BillyBigRigger telling another of the same to shuddup stupid.
Whats the "coops" doing. BBR in a slow azz governed truck asking a dumb question. It doesn't matter because you will go through it anyway. Coops are scale houses.
"Bear report", same BBR asking another stuipid question. Bear= Cops, where are they. I never sya because if your speeding you need the ticket.

interesting. does one really need a signal to know if it's raining or snowing?? :wow:

it varies from counties as far as 10 codes go. For example a 10-10(fight in progrss) in Guilford County is what means Negative in Davidson County. It's two different things. There's the CB 10-code, and police 10-codes (which, as you noted, can vary wildly between jurisdictions). The CB code is pretty much consistent with what JSontag listed. :)
Btw, while we're on the subject of lingo.. in the song "Convoy," he says ' we tore up our swindle sheets'... I've never heard that term before. Anyone? :noclue:
